Have You Ever Thought of Getting Out of Your Comfort Zone?
In my opinion, jumping out of a perfectly good airplane is a pretty stupid thing to do…but I did it. And, I’d like to encourage you to start getting out of your comfort zone, too.
I didn’t do it because I particularly wanted to. Monica went skydiving in May and I told her I would never be doing that. Then I got a call from Shannon. Shannon is one of my personally sponsored Team Beachbody Coaches who has become like a little sister to me over the last eight months. She’s an excellent Coach and a great person. Her heart is huge and she understands what a profound impact she is having on the lives of the people she coaches.
In April, at the Team Beachbody Coaches Summit, I sat down with Shannon and told her that I saw something special in her. There was just something about her. It was difficult to describe, but I could see this person inside just waiting to accomplish something really extraordinary. Team Beachbody has allowed me to live my dreams and I want everyone to have the same opportunity to live theirs. Together, Shannon and I realized that the only thing keeping her from going after her dreams was her. She needed to get out of her comfort zone and expand as a person. She agreed to do that and I agreed to do whatever I could to support her.
At some point over the summer, Shannon called me and said she was going Diamond…soon. Then, she challenged me to get out of my comfort zone saying that when she went Diamond, I should go skydiving. Ahhh, jeesh…it had to be skydiving, I thought to myself. I knew she was serious. I also knew that I had asked her to get out of her comfort zone and that it was time for me to get out of mine.
In mid-September, Shannon advanced to Diamond and on Friday, October 22, 2010, we did this:
I’m incredibly proud of Shannon. Not because she was brave enough to jump out of a plane, but because she is becoming a leader. Here’s an interview between Shannon and 8 Star Diamond Coach Monica Koon discussing the process of going Diamond and why she chose to jump out of a plane to celebrate.
What do you think? Are you ready to think about getting out of your comfort zone like Shannon and I did? If you’re not doing so already, are you ready to start living your dream? I’d love to sit down with you just like I sat down with Shannon. Maybe you can get me to do something that makes me hella nervous, too!
