You Can’t Out Exercise a Bad Diet
If you’ve come here from the latest email in our Welcome series, it’s already been 30 days since the first email went out! (If you’re not getting the emails, look to the right and sign up to get a bunch of FREE tips.) No matter how you got here, and no matter where you are on the timeline of your health and fitness journey, I’m hoping that you’re in a place where I can congratulate you on the progress you’ve made thus far…however it is that you are measuring it! If you’re struggling—and you’re consistently doing the workouts—we need to revisit nutrition. I’m going to beat this horse over and over and over until you understand—you can’t out exercise a bad diet!
Unless you’re a professional athlete or you’re doing some hard core endurance training, it’s likely you’re not going to be able to continue consuming loads of carbs, fried foods, and sugary sweets. Note that I haven’t mentioned the words “starving” or “diet” once. Because it’s not about either of those! It’s simply about eating healthy whole organic, mostly single ingredient, foods. (Yes, it’s okay to cheat now and then. You can read more about this in my post on 80/20 nutrition.)
In addition to adding too many calories, a bad diet zaps your energy, motivation, and endurance.
One of the most valuable aspects of Beachbody’s programs is that each of them comes with a nutrition plan. Why? Because they know you can’t out exercise a bad diet. Use the plan. Be religious about it and you’ll very likely stop struggling and start seeing results. Nutrition is a very personal thing though, so I encourage you to reach out to me and I will teach you about how your body responds to certain foods, so you can make more informed choices when it comes to food.

Remember, this is a journey you’re on…not an overnight switch. Don’t get overwhelmed and give up! It’s about continuing to progress along the path. Baby steps. Until one day, you’ll look up and go, “Wow, look what I’ve done and how far I’ve come.” Trust me.
