A Comparison of Three of Our Favorite On Demand Workout Programs
Peloton, Beachbody On Demand & Zwift
Today’s world is fast and furious and you don’t always have time to get to the gym. And, sadly, with the COVID-19 pandemic, going to the gym isn’t always an option. On demand workout programs are fantastic for their efficiency and consistent availability.
Today, I’m going to do an in-depth review of three great on-demand workout programs. I’ll do a rundown of the cost and how each program differs so you can decide for yourself which one is best for you.
Yes, I’m a Beachbody Coach, but I’m also a consumer and I legitimately love all three of these on demand workout programs! In fact, if it’s within your budget, I recommend getting all three.
Three On-Demand Workout Programs
As I said, all of these on demand workout programs are great, but their offerings definitely vary, so let’s take a look at what each program has to offer!
Peloton Overview
Peloton made quite a splash with their controversial commercial for their stationary bike back in 2019. Whether you loved the commercial or not, most people LOVE their Pelotons.
While Peloton is well known for their high-end stationary bike, did you know that they also have treadmills?
They don’t have your standard-issue, gym-style stationary bikes and treadmills. The equipment comes with a beautiful touch-screen monitor that taps into an on-demand library that will take you cycling, running or walking all around the world.
Did you know they also have a monthly subscription for online fitness classes? The classes have more than bike rides. There’s also yoga, meditation, and strength training.
And, they range from 5 minutes up to 90 minutes in length, so there’s a class for however much time you have.
There are also live weekly classes, so you’re with the instructor in real-time. There’s nothing like having a personal instructor right there with you at home!
Boredom isn’t a problem with different class themes, music, and levels of difficulty.

The not-so-great news is that, currently, the Peloton bike will set you back about $1,900 dollars.
The good news is that the Peloton on demand monthly fitness subscription is $39 per month. It’s required with the bike purchase BUT it’s not required that you have a bike to subscribe.
And, let’s not forget the Peloton Plus bike, which takes the regular bike to the next level.
The articulated monitor lets you swing it around. What does this mean? You can turn the monitor away from the bike so you’ve got plenty of room for further instructor-led workouts on the floor. There’s 360 degrees of movement in this extra-large monitor.
You’ll like what you see because this bigger monitor also features HD. And, you can also sync the monitor with your Apple Watch and share your data across devices.
The bike itself pays attention to instructor cues so you don’t have to. When the instructor calls for added resistance, the bike does it for you!
With a Peloton bike or treadmill, plus the monthly subscription, you’ve got a gym and streaming classes 24/7. What’s not to love? Well, okay…maybe the hefty price tag for the bike.
Zwift Overview
Zwift is another good on-demand service that targets runners and bikers.
It offers a video game-like environment for getting your workouts done. You can play it on most devices, including Apple TV or your smartphone.
It also offers racing options and customized training plans.
Are you a triathlete? The customized training plans have your back and will even dynamically change if you have to miss a workout.
If running is your thing, you’ll need a treadmill to get the most out of Zwift.
Are you a cycler? Then, you’ll need a classic bike trainer or smart trainer.
A classic trainer is an affordable way to get up and running quickly.
A smart trainer is the high-tech version of the classic bike trainer. It connects to the app and offers a better simulation of real-time riding. Add in a heart rate monitor and you’re in business.
Going up a hill? The bike adds resistance. Going downhill? You get to coast.
Zwift doesn’t offer as many regular workout options as Peloton or Beachbody on Demand’s (see below) monthly subscription plans, but it’s affordable price of only $15 per month makes it a great add-on option.
This plan gives you access to virtual rides, structured workouts, and group rides.
For an additional fee, you also have the opportunity to join Zwift Academy, which gives you access to eight structured workouts and four events.
Zwift is a great option if you’re looking for online cycling training.
Beachbody On Demand Overview

If you follow me at all you know this is where I spend most of my workout time. But, I also have a Zwift subscription to give me more variety in my cycling workouts.

With OVER 1,500 online fitness workout programs and the LOWEST price (by far) of the three, Beachbody On Demand will not disappoint.

Here is a great list of beginner online workouts — Best Beachbody Programs for Beginners
All Beachbody workouts all have warm-up and cool-down sessions. At the beginning of each class, you’ll be informed of any equipment you’ll need to complete the workout.
You won’t need a lot of expensive equipment. If you have some dumbbells and a yoga mat, you’re good to go.
Even the easiest classes have modifiers so you can take it a bit easier or step it up.
On the Beachbody on Demand dashboard, you can filter classes by time, type, fitness level, and even your favorite trainer! You can also download the classes and watch them offline.
It’s a no-brainer to commit to a Beachbody On Demand membership, because there are so many types of classes to choose from. You’ll never be stuck doing the same thing every day—unless you’re a creature of habit, that is!
And, it just keeps getting better…
With Beachbody on Demand, you have access to nutrition programs.
Working out is essential. A good workout routine helps you not only with your fitness level, but also with your mental health.
What many people don’t realize is that that you can’t out-exercise bad eating. It takes a good amount of exercise to burn off enough calories to make a difference in your weight.
Resistance and strength training, cardio and a good nutrition program are the trifecta for good health and a steady weight.
Muscle burns more calories than fat, even at rest, so a healthy life plan includes cardio and strength training; but without a good nutrition program, you’re bound to be frustrated.
This is another way that Beachbody on Demand stands above a lot of the other subscription services…
Through the use of plastic containers, the Ultimate Portion Fix teaches you how much of each type of food group you should be eating each day.
The 2B Mindset nutrition program teaches you how to eat intuitively with less structure. SPOILER ALERT: Veggies first!
