Why We LOVE Online Group Fitness Classes

If you know me at all, you know I’m ALL about online group fitness classes for SO many reasons.

In fact, I recently wrote a blog post on fitness accountability and talked about how working out with a partner or group is one of the best ways to find it.

Group fitness classes are an awesome source of motivation, community, and accountability when you’re truly committed to your health and fitness.

Now, there are even more ways of getting the benefit of group fitness classes even if you can’t be there in person.

Five Benefits of GROUP FITNESS Classes

BENEFIT #1 — Group exercise classes help you take your fitness to the next level—you feed off the energy of the group and the group pushes you to do your best. When I’m in a group, I really want to put my best foot forward, so it definitely boosts my motivation.

BENEFIT #2 — Group workout classes offer structure. I don’t know about you, but I have enough things to think about all day without having to come up with my own workout. I love that the instructor does all the thinking for me!

BENEFIT #3 — Speaking of instructors, a good fitness instructor knows a lot about exercise. He or she can correct your form and make sure you’re doing the exercises in a safe way, so you won’t hurt yourself.

BENEFIT #4 — Losing weight and getting in shape can be tough if you’re trying to go it alone. At least one study shows that overweight people lose more weight when hanging out with fit friends. The longer they spend with their fit friends, the more weight they lose. That’s because healthy habits rub off!

BENEFIT #5 — As I mentioned in the accountability article (above), when you work out with others, you’re more likely to stick with it. You don’t want to be the person who flakes out on your partner or friends. If you’re committing to a healthy lifestyle, group fitness can play a big part.

I bet you’re wondering, “Well, this is all great, but what about when your gym closes due to Covid?” Or, “What if I don’t have a gym close by?” Or, “What if I can’t afford it?”

Broadcasting yourself in the student also means your fitness instructors can see you. If you’re having an issue with your form, your instructor can correct you in real time.

BODi also offers awesome music choices. You can use the instructor’s playlist or select a genre of music you like better. When you select a different music genre, you’ll get a playlist matching the beats per minute of the class you’re in. Music is so motivating!
